Halfmoon Creek to Mount Champion

Abandoned Champion Mine Mill

Ascending Mt. Champion

Nothing to stop a fall...

Looking down on Independence Pass (the highest paved road over
the Continental Divide)

An old can of beans reminds me that real people
lived here. It's crazy to think that guys called this
place home while they worked all the way up here.

The view was breathtaking, but that may have been
the lack of oxygen at 13,700 feet above sea level!

Headed back out for the long ride home, it's always hard to leave
a truly awe-inspiring place.

Perseid Meteor Shower

Just a short drive out of Gypsum we found a pull off on the side of the road where there was zero hint of light pollution (not that there is much around here). We could see more stars than I have seen in a long time. There was no moon light and very little cloud cover. As soon as we stopped the car and turned off the headlights we started to see meteors. It was incredible. This was the first picture I took after getting set up.
