Installing the Rear End

Unfortunately photographer Ben was busy working on his car the second night, so I don't have as many great pictures for the rear end install.

See the difference from old leaf springs to new!?

Comparison of the old rear bump stops to the new.

All done just in time to head out for July 4th weekend!!

Here is what we did on the rear end and tying up some loose ends:
  • Replace rear leaf springs and shackles
  • Replace rear shocks
  • Replace rear brake line
  • Replace tie rod end at pitman arm
  • Replace sway bar bushings
  • Install sway bar disconnects
  • Transfer case drop kit installed
  • New tires
  • New wheels
  • Replace rear body bump stop
  • Install sway bar disconnect stow pegs

Thanks again to everyone who helped me out with this huge project!

Installing the Front End Suspension

Here are pictures from the first night of installing the lift. We worked on the front end (I'll list everything we did at the end of the post). Thanks to Ben Williams for taking all of the photos.

Opening all the boxes felt like Christmas morning!

Here is what we did:

  • Replace front shocks
  • Replace front springs
  • Replace front brake lines
  • Install lower bump stops in springs
  • Replace upper control arms
  • Replace lower control arms
  • Replace track bar
Thanks to Britt, Ben, Ben, and Steven for giving me a hand on this project!

Before Pictures of the Jeep

This is the start to a series of posts to show all of the work I have put into the Jeep since I brought it out to Colorado. All of these pictures are from before I replaced the suspension, wheels, and tires.

I mounted the front LED lights and roof rack before leaving Virgina. Those little lights are brighter than my headlights!!

You can see I removed the plastic molding off the sides. I'm going to be replacing some of it, but the old, cracking, and faded stock plastic had to go.

Lots of rust under there!
